Adventure in Nola-land...

For the person who found my blog searching for "Alice in Wonderland dramatis personae," while you may not have been looking for me per se, but you're gonna get it anyway.

I present... Krewe Du Wonderland (February '06)

You can find the whole set here; and if you look closely, you can find MOST of the Dramatis Personae from both Alice in Wonderland and Alice through the Looking Glass.

For the lass (I assume) who came here wondering, "Which goes on first crinoline corset," I always recommend putting the corset on last (as demonstrated above). Very last. Not only does it help smooth out the overall outfit and ensure your crinoline is hiding possible bulge, it also means you don't have to get someone else to put your shoes on. That's kind of embarassing.

Halloween Catch-Up!

Boy, has this week been a whirlwind of activity! From driving to and from New Orleans (a 12.5 hour drive, typically!), to three days of nonstop play and dress-up in the Vieux Carre, to working The Rocky Horror Picture Show on Halloween night, to desperately attempting to get a full night's sleep, this past week has been nuts! But I'm not sure I would have given any of it up for the world.

On the yummy and delicious front, I did a bit of shopping! I stopped by my favorite glamour girl shop, Trashy Diva and scored two lovely treats: a cream and rhinestone vintage-inspired choker, and this gorgeous dress (in black silk instead of velvet). The dress was a score, as it was a "Manufacturer's Defect" and marked down to $65! The defect? The gathering on the bust stopped a half inch from the seam. An easy fix with my sewing machine.

The next stop-- Fifi Mahoney's, the best damned wig shop in the United States!* At Fifi's, I picked up not one, but two glorious and lovely tiny top hats from the delightful and decadent NolaBird! If you're based out of L.A., or want a glorious top hat of your own, I'd absolutely recommend contact her. Each piece she had brought in for the holiday was magnificent and splendid in its own way.

This is myself and the lovely Mallory, of Dismantled Designs and Miss Malaprop (we've been BFF for 13 years now!), super late one night at the bar. She's dressed up as Dolly Parton and I'm well... Princess Ballerina of the Unicorn Ranch? The Bingo Show Girl (Ironically, who was Ms. NolaBird herself)? A catastrophe in pink? Or just rocking a glorious little pink tophat!
