Disclosure

In accordance with the new FTC rulings, I’ve created this page to provide transparency between myself, readers, and companies I may work with now or in the future.

Reviews:

Occasionally I will receive products for free from a company in exchange for a review of their merchandise.  I always disclose to the PR representative that I will make an honest assessment of the product on the site, or if I feel very strongly against it, will not be reviewed at all.

I try to be honest in my posts that the item was received from them for free, by using language such as “COMPANY was kind enough to send me this product for review”; this is to be contrasted against language like, “I was so excited PRODUCT came out, that I had to go out & snatch it up immediately!” which indicates that I purchased the item myself for review.

Sponsors:

I work very closely with sponsors to develop a relationship with independent businesses that I myself support and trust.  As such, you will see them located under the “Darling Sponsors” heading.  Sponsors and I develop a relationship to provide great advertising space, often times in exchange for product goods.  I view this as a win-win situation, and many times it is because of prior posts that the relationship with the business person happens.

Affiliates:

I do participate in a limited number of Affiliate programs, which are disclosed in the sidebars under Affiliates.  There are, on occasion, links within my posts to products on these sites.  As I mention on my Advertising page, all affiliate links are for products that I own, that I would buy, or that I myself like.  It is always my hope that a reader will choose to use my affiliate link when purchasing an item so that I may support my site, but no reader is obligated to, and many are aware that I use affiliate links in my posts.

Advertisers:

Advertisers are companies who approach me for advertising space on Dramatis Personae.  I do not have a long-standing relationship with them, nor do I promote their products.   Currently ad space is ONLY available in the side bar, and I DO NOT sell it within my posts, as it compromises my editorial vision.  Advertisers receive the least preferential of space on my site in favor of sponsors or affiliate programs.
