My summer season at work starts soon, so the Fella and I enjoyed a weekend night out while we could– in Bush, LA at Ponchatrain Vineyards. Tuba Skinny was playing that night, and I was REALLY excited to hear them. We’d first heard them while peepin’ the bands for the Jazz’n the Vines program, and I IMMEDIATELY fell in love with their 20s-30s jazz and blues tunes. It seemed like the perfect opportunity to wear something from that era…
I bought this Trashy Diva dress last year, for my birthday (in July), and this is the first opportunity I’ve had to wear it. Almost a full year. Part of what held me back was not having a halter/convertible bra to wear with it. (I make shifted one with my Playtex Cotton Shaping Underwire bra, hooking the crossover back around the straps.) The other problem was finding the right shoe– it needed to be playful and fun, coordinate without getting too matchy. The best matches I had were my red Fluevog Lately flats and my Miz Mooz Pamela wedges, but neither were quite the right fit.
So when the Miz Mooz Warby came out (I first peeped it visiting Mallory at Trashy Diva), it was karmic synergy (for those who also watch Greek). I knew they were THUH ONES for this dress. And boy was I right. I felt pretty and put-together and it must have shown: the gents at the vineyards were giving me sweet smiles all night long. (It doesn’t help I’ll smile at a tree if it looks nice enough ;)
The night was lovely– the temperature was perfect and cool. Tuba Skinny was so good– I can’t wait to find them playing in the city come September. It was an easy night of wine, cheese and baguettes, strawberries, and chocolates. I had sweet conversations from the fella, and we left shortly after it got dark. The music and clothes totally felt me transported and, oddly, I felt a kind of comfort that I felt in Bloomington. Ponchatrain Vineyards reminds me of my favorite place in Indiana– the Starlight Drive-In. A place where everyone can go, where kids can run around barefoot and safe, friends and families are gathered together, and you’re just enjoying being surrounded by nature and enjoying arts under the stars.

What a gorgeous girl. You look STUNNING, Ashe!
<3
Thank you, cupcake!
Ahh, gorgeous! I waited too long on the Pearl Harbor print and couldn’t get anything I wanted in my size. I have a Trixie in the tiny fleur de lis print from last year (or year before?) though — such a fun style, and comfy!
Also, heart Miz Mooz…gonna have to check out that style!
“couldn’t get anything I wanted in my size.” — story of my Trashy Diva lovin’ life! The style is really good though, and so easy to wear. I love that it has the elastic panels, making fit really good, too.
Hoping to get one of the dresses in the polka dot and the 5th ave. floral in a month or so once I pay off my credit card…can’t let any more styles get away from me!

God, that 5th Ave floral is KILLING ME. And have you see the preview of the new plaid coming out? Candice wore it to Disney World (it’s on their blog). It’s so beautiful.
I’m all “MUST GET THESE NEXT 20 POUNDS OFF TO FIT IN THE SIZE 18.” (As they haven’t gone up to the 24 in any of the styles lately.)
I DID see the plaid! I’m basically buying no other clothes this summer other than TD dresses!!!
I’m in love with this hair situation you’ve got going on. And I have several dresses that I haven’t worn or hardly ever wear because of underpinning problems.

It looks way more cool blonde in the pictures than real life (it’s more faded strawberry)– BUT. I’ve been planning to go in for highlights around that shade, so it actually makes me feel like I’m making the right choice.
Typically I won’t buy things if it requires special bras, and I have to admit– part of me is thinking of sewing the straps to the back (especially since it’s now a bit too big), so that I can wear a regular bra more easily.
Stunning! :) I just adore this outfit from head to toe–those shoes are especially perfect with the dress. Ah… Makes me wish it was warmer today (and I did’t have a lot going on that required wearing pants) so I could wear one of my pretty summer dresses!

Knowing you think the dress & shoes are perfect together makes me feel I really nailed this one. I love them together so much!
Hopefully you’ll get some warm weather and pants-unnecessary days soon, kitten!
You look super fantastic in that dress and so happy!! Love this. So hard.
Thank you, Shannon! xx
That dress looks so great on you! And I love your hair right now – I want it for myself.

Haha, *I* want my hair (color) in this picture! It’s still a bit more orange/strawberry than it looks here. I’m going to think it was a combination of washing it + dusk that make it look so good ;D (But it’s a great inspiration for what I want to get!)
These photos make me long for summer :)
