It’s not uncommon for me to receive tweets and emails about New Orleans–what’s it like? When should I visit? Where should I go and what should I do? How can I do it on the cheap, do I go to Bourbon Street & more?
Over the years, my posts on Mardi Gras have also harbored a lot of response– from those who have visited and those who hope to come.
I’m hoping to put all my years of knowledge to use, and am coming out with an e-book on New Orleans. It’ll be chock full of information with a special Good Girls Guide to being Bad during Mardi Gras (that’ll also be sold separately!).

I’m curious to know some of the hidden vintage and antique shops. Also when is the best time to visit (when it’s not so crowded) and some unique boutique hotels. Also a section on NOLA after Katrina would be great!

That’s a really great idea on life after Katrina!
I may be the only one but I love haunted histories. If a guide book mentions a really cool haunted hotel/motel/house/graveyard, etc. I’m there. I love places with history and it sounds like New Orleans would be full of that.
Or, really cook vintage/thrift shops and I second the section about NOLA after Katrina.
Thanks, Allie!
One city on my must visit list. I have some friends who want to go for NYE but that\’s still far off.
I will let you know if that actually happens – so I can pick your brain. ;)
FOOD. My main focus when I visit another city is mainly the food. Not the shopping or the sights, I just wanna stuff my face with the best food possible. And the cheaper, the better!
I second Allie’s haunted histories. Graveyards and haunted houses!

There’s definitely going to be lots of food in it! It’s such a great city for eating in…
I would love to know where the best shopping and thrifting is at. And where are they sweetest parks with the lovliest views and fountains. =) Best wishes girl with the ebook!

Great idea on the best parks, great views & fountains… something I feel like I definitely take advantage of here!
Oh I’m about an hour and a half away from New Orleans! I visit all the time–looking forward to your book! :)

Are you near Baton Rouge? Or the opposite way and in to Mississippi? (I grew up in MS!)
P.S. Good shopping is at Wish on St. Peters St (I think) right next to Urban Outfitters and French Connection.

I want to know an amazing apartment/townhome to rent March 27-31 for our honeymoon. Ideally it’s several blocks off Bourbon but still in the French Quarter, and BONUS if it has a courtyard.
And now I will read all the other readers’ questions. I love New Orleans, and I am excited to take my soon-to-be husband who has not been since he was a teenager.
Thanks for doing this! Great idea!

The secret hang out, great bars coffee and drinks, where and when 80′s/retro-pop night is, and any ins and outs a new girl to town needs to know.
