Recently I received an email with Vestiture Magazine attached– one that included an article by Carol who interviewed me as a fashion expert in a debate on Fashion vs. Art. You can download the magazine here. I’m incredibly pleased with the article, and the magazine itself looks great– I’m eager to read many of the other articles in it as well– there’s lots of food for thought in this season’s issue.
I’m not sure how I feel about being called a fashion expert, as I think fashion enthusiast or lover is more appropriate. It’d have been great to see the opinions of other fashion bloggers & experts involved as well– so I’ll open that up there–what are your thoughts on fashion vs. art?

Babygirl, don’t let your blog become a source of stress. This is a beautiful, wonderful place! No one is going to be upset if you drop down to one post a week or even if you go on hiatus for a month. I promise you that those worth keeping will still be here when you get back. <3

I sincerely hope you do not stop blogging, but i know what you mean about exhaustion and it zapping your creative drive. I’m in the same boat right now and my posts and subsequently, my traffic have suffered from it all. The good news is that your blog serves as your creative outlet so if you need to cut back, we will love you anyway.

I’m with you…fashion falls short of art because it serves a practical purpose…it does contain elements of art and can be viewed as artistic expression, though.
And take a break!!! We’ll still love you. Your blog shouldn’t be a burden.

Definitely! It makes me wonder though, as soon as art fails to serve that practical purpose, does it become art? (ala the McQueen boots… not practical, right? So are they strictly art now?)

Ashe, I just went through six months of what you describe (exhaustion) before giving up a job that wasn’t moving me toward my goals. It was hard to let go of the income but THE DAY AFTER I left I got a 13K windfall I wasn’t expecting. Talk about divine! I believe the universe will line up to support you when you stand up for yourself.
As for the article, wonderful! Fashion is art and you ARE a fashion expert!

On the plus side, my job is definitely a step in a positive career goal, even if it’s often stressful and tiresome. That’s so amazing that you took that chance and what you needed was there.

Wow, what a great read! I am not going to touch this here in a comment, because as a fashion-loving artist, I think it’s way too complicated to do justice here!
But I DID want to say that I made it to Trashy Diva a week ago, and OH MY GOODNESS. Two dresses, a necklace and a pair of earrings later I was fielding calls from my bank, who just wanted to be sure it was me spending loads of cash. Thanks for the comment on my OTHER blog, BTW, the shop was a good as you said it would be.
