Fact: I’ve been kind of avoiding the Trashy Diva shoe store since it opened. I’ve popped in a few times, but I never let myself touch the shoes, and I certainly haven’t tried them on. (Even more real fact: did you know that touching an item makes you more inclined to want to buy it? Not scientifically proven fact: OR disinclined, if you’re me and hate the way lots of cheap fabrics feel.)
Fact: When I went in to the Trashy Diva shoe store, Miss Malaprop was working. Which was just the excuse I needed to try on shoes take pictures of the store.
The window display is a colorful Candyland meets Katy-Perry-land of crochet confectionary, colorful pom poms, and playful nod to the holidays, Sugar Plum faeries, and oh-my-god, shoes!
I’ve seen these Irregular Choice Little Miss O in other colors and wasn’t interested. Then I saw them in the leopard and black combination. Part of me thought they were hideous, but part of me was so attracted to them. Then I put them on and fell in love. There’s something about them, when on, that reminds me of little old lady shoes. Or trendy blogger shoes. They manage to pull together some trends I love, but in a practical, wearable way. (They’re surprisingly comfortable, too!)
I’ve been eyeballing these purple heart Miss L Fire shoes since I literally moved back to New Orleans. The vibrant purple color, the cute heart detailing, and a really practical heel (they’re probably about 2.5-3″). They’ve totally won me over. I stupidly tried them on, and find myself coveting them more ALL of the time now…
I love the Irregular Choice Oz in the red/blue combo (how Pucci-meets-Pilgrim-meets-Marie Antoinette!). There’s a rumor that the Magazine Street store just got them in, but I wanted to try on a pair to gauge how they’d fit. Note: Size 8 was too small–but so cute!
Trashy Diva’s shoe boutique is this little slice of French Quarter shoe heaven that I’m really shouldn’t be allowed in without a) someone holding my credit cards hostage, or b) without a fistful of cash. They carry really lovely brands like Remix, Irregular Choice, Poetic License, Frye, John Fluevog, Pink Studios, and so.much.more. I don’t know how Mallory handles working in there!
