OMG Shoes: Dr. Martens

by Ashley on May 19, 2010

In the wake of all my chats of consumption, finances, and our spending habits, I have a confession to make.  I’m really kind of holding out on shoe purchases so I can save up for Dr. Martens.

Am I suddenly Angela Chase (again)?

In fact, I still own my original-from-high-school Dr. Martens…which I never wear anymore.  But they’re such a beloved token of my past, I can’t imagine ever getting rid of them.

So why am I coveting them now???

It’s a lie to say I’m just now coveting them NOW though…. I wrote about the Darcie boot over a year ago, and I’m still coveting them (only now? in white).  But add to the list the Regina boot and the Darla boot.

The Darla boot has the makings of perfect black boot for me– not an easy find!  I love how it’s sleeker and more streamlined than the average Dr. Marten boot and has a modest heel for a bit of sophistication.  Plus, I know Dr. Martens are incredibly comfortable shoes, so they’ll be great to wear everywhere.  I think the Cherry Red Darla Boot is really sexy too– in fact, I coveted them first, until I realized how practical the black are.

I was thrilled to see the black and white Regina boot finally show up on the Dr. Martens site.  They come in black too, but I find that it’s just not as special looking as the more traditional wing-tip combo.  Of the three pairs, this would probably be the last one I’d purchase…. mostly because, while I love it, I’m not sure how I would wear it in my wardrobe.

For all of these styles, I really think that the heel is what makes them such special boots and sets them apart from other Docs…  It makes them transition well, and mixes & matches in the wardrobe really nicely.  I can see all the outfit pairings in my head….
