To be honest, I’ve been fantasizing about these Miu Miu Charvet Paris with Chanel & Bulgari collars since Jazzi posted about them weeks ago. They look like a super easy DIY, along with being a great way to spice up and accessorize for the Spring.
The plan of attack?
- A thrift store (or TJ Maxx button-up shirt)
- an assortment of rhinestone brooches, buttons, sequin trim, or chain trims.
- I’d love to try this out with non-white collars…black or dark purple perhaps. How sexy would red be, too?
Visualizing the Ensembles
- Combined with high crew necks sweaters in the winter, for a festive touch.
- Paired with low cut tank tops or halter tops, maybe suspenders, for ironic nights out on the town.
- With Lolita-esque skirts, frilly blouses, and corsets for decadent costume treats. (Be a bedazzled cupcake! Swoon.)

I kind of love them, but I’m not sure how I would pull it off. Part of me really wants to make one & try it.

I want to do this, ASAP!
What a great idea! And I just happen to have some old button-up shirts I’d be willing to sacrifice for the cause…

Fancy! Maybe a wee bit too much so for me… I’m not that blingy.. bit of a jeans & tshirt girl, really.
Yay, glad you liked them too! I’m working on a little somethin too ;) Can’t wait to see what you come up with! (FYI – the collars on the cover aren’t by Miu Miu, they are Charvet Paris with Chanel & Bulgari pendants, I just wish they were Miu Miu!)

Doh! I’m so daft– but easily fixed. MWAH! And I can’t wait to see what you come up with, too!

I want to Marry them!!! How amazing would they be with a boatneck blouse?!? A men’s suit shop would certainly sell just the collars.
Hmm, I may have to check out a men’s suit shop… that never crossed my mind!
HOLY. That’s such a fantastic idea. I’ve been envisioning standalone collars lately and these are fab.

wow, what a beautiful site. I love these glitters. So refind. that’s just the correct word.
I think they’re great, I’d love to wear one with a plain dress with a lower neckline, so there was some skin between the collar and the dress.
Can’t wait to see how your DIY turns out…

Oooh, I can’t wait to see how this turns out! I don’t think it would be something I would wear, but the idea of a lolita outfit around them is amazing.

While I think Miu Miu gets it right this reminds me a little too much of “fancy” collars my mom and maw maw used to wear in the 80s and 90s. It would have to be perfectly executed IRL to keep it going from cool to corny.

I definitely agree– but maybe that’s part of the fun??
Definitely like them.. but like above readers said.. not sure how I’d pull this off!
those jewel collars are too adorable – what a beautiful picture of them!

I wouldn’t be surprised if the DIY bloggers were a point of inspiration…
I love these and will probably be trying them myself. I have a lot of loose brooches for some reason. =D
.-= Alicia´s last blog ..…chopped… =-.
All those loose brooches sound like they’re looking for some ack-shun, Alicia!
I swooooooon! And I’d soo pair this piece of excellency with some matching cuffs!

Cute idea, Misha!
I’m not sure about the plain white collars. Maybe with old-fashioned lacy collars. Lacy collars in black. Much more pleasing to the goth-hearted like me…
I swoon for sure (but i love almost anything that glitters!) I am definitely going to make one.

I love the concept. As a man, (or melancholy boy rather, confined to books and love sick journals) it can be rather hard to accessorize and make your own statement. I launched a year long change in my wardrobe that I called: “Fashionably Fascist, the new aesthetic.” I changed my vintage early 70′s wardrobe to 1943 war time. Finding proper military antique stores and having tailors hand make some things for me, I dressed as the handsome officers of Der Waffen SS did.
David Bowie tried a similar movement but was shunned by the public. I however, have no media to censor me and fashion before practicality has always been my motto. I used collar tabs and officers coats to create a sheik German Officers look. (think Ralph Fiennes in Schindlers List) My synapsis: Cold, calculated, powerful.
One thing I really want to do when I have the money, is to reinvent the old dress shirts where the collar remained up, slightly folded on the tips to that one could put a tie on and have the entire double windsor knot visible with the entire tie. (very old English; think Keanu Reaves in Bram Stokers Dracula with a fabulous tie) Ties, in a formal setting can often be the only way a gentleman like myself can truly accent and personalize an outfit. With that style collar, I would be in heaven with my tie collection. (my synapsis on the look: antiquated, sophisticated and decadent)
In short: the above idea is a creative and cheap way to make an eloquent statement.
