Coveting: Eliza Parker “Bordeaux” Dress

by Ashe on July 7, 2010

Once again, thanks to Facebook ads– I came across plus-size designer Eliza Parker‘s new shop.  I find many of the pieces of-the-norm for plus-sized fashion, but instantly fell in love with the Bordeaux Dress.  Black eyelet, knee-length, natural fitted waistline, a ruffled bib around the bust, 1/2 sleeves… it’s just really charming and lovely.

Perfect to wear through all the seasons.  I can see it working beautiful during the Festival season in the summer, perfect for event and party planning, nice in the fall with textured tights…

This isn’t the first time I’ve fallen in love with an eyelet dress.  The last time was years ago, when Trashy Diva released the Avian Dress.  I never got one, and I still regret it (even if I’d be too chubby for it now).

The site is designed around shopping by your body shape (body types are given fruit names), and I find that the proportions on this dress are designed perfectly for my apple body. Usually I find a huge disparity between by bust-waist-hip measurements, finding myself between sizes. This seems perfectly matched.

While many of the pieces aren’t my style, I love that there is almost this modest, Mad Men’s Joan quality to some of the pieces.  They’re well suited for the stylish plus-sized career girl, in addition to the party needs.  A nice addition is that all of the pieces are made in San Francisco.

A $198, I doubt the dress will be mine any time soon, but I’ll be keeping my eyes out for a sale.

This is a beautiful dress, and I totally agree – it’s the sort of dress that could easily work for ANY figure! It also looks deliciously comfortable, which is always a fashion win!

Definitely pretties that are kind of pricey! D: If the quality was REALLY good though, I could see them being worth it…. there are several “investment” pieces it looks like…

Gorgeous! I love it when a basic black dress has texture and details that makes it not-so-basic!

DARN. Now why didn’t I see her site on my FB ads? Coveting this dress, for my NY trip. Too bad the dress won’t show up in time. (leaving tomorrow morning). I did find a cute sundress at Target in the clearance section. It’s not as sweet at this princess maker.

It was definitely chance! I mean, how often does anyone pay attention to facebook ads?! I don’t know what it was that made me pay attention, but I’m glad I did! (And have fun in NY! I bet the dress will be around for the next trip ;D)

Online “window” shopping can be a very dangerous thing! What a great dress!
