Beauty Trick: Two Tone Eyeliner

by Ashe on April 5, 2010

Two-tone eyeliner.  Something I’d never have thought of, to be honest.  I think I picked up this tip from the recent issue of Glamour (though I could be making that up!).  However, it makes for a very festive, feisty, and surprisingly subtle look…great for adding a splash of color in to Spring and Summer, and it’d be equally yummy in the Autumn with dark plums or greens…

To do: Use black eyeliner to line your top lid. Line your bottom lid in a vibrant, contrasting color. I’m using Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliners in Zero (black) and Electric (bright aquamarine).

It’s a surprisingly fast way to change up your look and insert a bit more color.  I also love it as a way of wearing turquoise eyeliner a bit more seriously and subtly.  (Also, I claim no expertise in my eyeliner application– it’s the worst!)

i love the contrast! i’ve always been a fan of ultramarine / blue eyeliner, and this is a fun way to make it work without being too over the top (though that has it’s place too, of course!) – but this i could do just about anytime. nice!

We both have a love of ultramarine/blue! But it can DEFINITELY be hard to wear in a way that is totally serious– but this, this really just…works.

It’s a cheap way to experiment, that’s for sure!

How fun, it looks great! And I love how you kept the rest of the make-up very simple.

I am a BIG fan of two- or three-toned eyeliner, sometimes with a gradient effect. Way fun, and oddly easy to get away with. Check it: http://www.flickr.com/photos/exoskeletoncabaret/4374576381/ That’s actually three shades: a turquoise, a grass green, and a chartreuse, all blended into each other, gradually.

Hi, Ashe! I miss you.

I never wear eyeliner…unfortunately my eyes are so super-freaking-sensitive it’s always a battle, if I do wear it it definitely doesn’t get to go on my lower….line? …lid? whatever.

Anyways, it looks great on you, and may I say, you have lovely eyes!
