We Love Colors: A Snapshot Review

by Ashe on November 11, 2009

The wonderful Heather at We Love Colors has been super patient and wonderful with me– I received just days before my trip to Denver a great pair of the nylon/lycra plus size tights to try out, compliments of WLC (in Marigold– I was inspired by Alix Rose’s post) — only to come back from the trip and get throw in to the whirlwind of relocating back to New Orleans!

Via We Heart It

So I promised to come up with a quick, snapshot review (and come back once things have settled to show off the fun tights & infinite ways I want to wear them).

  • The Nylon/Lycra tights have a nice, slightly heavier weight to them than I find most normal tights do.  As such, I think that it’s a bit more smoothing & slimming to a curvaceous gal, while also providing a bit more warmth (something that is a must during the upcoming winter months!).
  • There’s this handy little trick I learned, which is great if you feel your tights give you muffin top.  Put the waistband of the tights over the back of a chair who is roughly the width of your hips.  With my newer Target tights, they didn’t hold the shape after I pulled them off the chair.  My We Love Colors tights DID–which means that they were still firm & supportive, while not squeezing me like a sausage!
  • I was taken aback by the $15 price tag at first…but since having tried them on, I’m sold on the price. Afterall, I’ve paid $10 for Target tights before, and these easily surpass the quality of a Target tight.
  • I really wish there were more plus-sized options available–they have a great selection of opaque tights, the splash tights are gorgeous, the striped tights selection isn’t so much for me (and they offer footless versions).  But I’d love to see the thigh highs in plus-sizes, or at least some of the patterns in full body versions).

Sorry for the quick thoughts on this, my cher! Soon I’ll be able to give you a better, more thoughtful & comprehensive look at them…maybe even with some stylings!

Nothing is worse than feeling sausage-like in tights. Thanks for the tip! I hate tights that dig into my softer waist parts – it just kills any feeling of looking hot. I’ll have to check out WLC. Can’t wait to see your stylings!

I really like WLC, I own a few pairs different colours, and am impressed by the quality. However, I do think that the colours bleed excessively. I’ve got coloured stains ON my radiatiors where the wet tights have dried – the dye has gone into the actual metal paint. I did buy my tights a few years back, so they might have sorted it out by now, hopefully!

I am obsessed with opaque tights, especially if they have a heavier weight. Thanks for the review, they seem like a great brand and I will definitly test them out too!

I love opaque tights! They can cheer up any outfit, so I have them in at least 10 different colours, including orange and bright pink. I agree, quality is key, they last forever and feel good.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, for the chair tip! I hate wearing tights because of how, well, “tight” they feel. Seriously, I am a small person and even when the tights are loose elsewhere, I get a major indentation all around my belly.

Can’t wait to try your suggestion, thanks!

I need to thank you for the chair tip too. I hat the little crease they can sometines create, so this is something I will definitely take the time to do.

Would love to see how you styled them.

I’m not one to usually wear tights, I hate that really tight feeling. But I love the way they look, and this brand seems to be worth at least a test. Maybe they will covert me into a tights wearing curvy girl. Will let ya know ;)
