TiLT: Lots of Links to Love!

by Ashe Mischief on March 26, 2009

I’ve been hoarding my favorite posts for ages, and it’s high time I share them (and Spring clean out my Google Reader)!

♥ I’m in love with the movement of creating “recycled” hotel rooms, and the wine cask rooms in the Netherlands are no exception. Quaint & bare bones, plus an amazing experience & story to tell people… wouldn’t you feel like you were Thumbelina sleeping in one of these?

♥ This series of portraits of Pandora is incredibly sexy. I especially love the delicate tease of the last one!

♥ I’m sure we have all read it by now, but it’s worth mentioning: Jealousy is the Killer of Girl-Love.

♥ And on the topic of much needed girl love…Meghan McCain & the Power of Sisterhood. This article is very insightful, and touches a lot on what I dealt with in my “Open Letter to Women” post. Some particularly poignant parts:

It’s unsurprising that older women are attacking younger women, or that they’re using the tactics of middle-school queen bees to do it. After all, in our culture, women aren’t taught to support other women. Older women, invisible in the mainstream media, have been told from infancy that they’ll only be relevant as long as they’re young and sexually attractive. As a result, they often see younger women as competition, dismissing and alienating them. Offended, younger women don’t look up to older women as role models or mentors. In short, sisterhood isn’t so powerful any more. And this has to change.

But in order to ensure continued progress for women, older women need to form relationships with younger women instead of fearing us or belittling us. Even when we don’t agree, women need to engage with one another’s ideas and intellects, instead of going for the modern-day jugular of appearance and weight. We won’t always agree, but we must always treat each other with respect, and we must applaud, and listen to women when they speak out in a world that seeks to silence them.

♥ Smashing Magazine brings us two sets of stunning pictures. Some of these made my heart stop!

7 Tips for Recharging yr resume & getting back in the game. Essential information, especially as jobs become harder to find & more competitive!

The Gravity of Sangfroid and Prudence (aka the importance of poise & self-restraint).

♥ I’m probably too excited about this, but I can’t WAIT to try out Doe Deere’s tutorial on making your hair Afro-licious.

The Obsession with Jumping Photos. These make my heart full of glee!

♥ Alix Rose interviews Monica Desai of Sole Envie, and I’m excited for this shop to open!

How to Get Free Books to Review via ProBlogger. *ahem* I have to admit, I’m anxious to try this one out myself. There are loads of books I’d love to review for dramatis personae….

I Am Grasshopper is something that I think all fashion bloggers especially should read. It’s a very touching and personal post going from our consumptive natures to battling with the lack of interest, when priorities change, and the economy impacts us all.

Develop your film with coffee & vitamin C. For old school photographers like myself, this sounds like a total blast. And it’d be an excellent way to self develop some of my old film rolls…

Phew! It seems I’ve been hoarding a bit too much..

@Ash – I’m glad to see you love the smashing magazine photos as much as I do!

@Vixel – Doesn’t the process seem like fun?! I imagine most of it could be done in a light tight bathroom…
