I’ve decided to make TiLT a monthly installment, so that it is a big farewell kiss to each month with all the beautiful & wonderful things of it.
♥ The Return of the Faux Beau! The fella has spent the majority of the month with his grandfather in Spain & France. His return was originally schedules for Sunday, but now he will be returning tonight. I’m ecstatic to see my fella again, along with the stories, pictures, and snuggles he’ll come home with!
♥ Mischief, My Dear Shop Success! The gorgeous Miss Malaprop stole my inventory for a local market in New Orleans, only to sell off nearly half the inventory I sent her! With a very slow online market (coupled with my horrible digital photography skills), it’s been a wonderful ego boost to say the least. And it’s been wonderful incentive for me to start making up more inventory, for both Fall/Halloween markets and the shop.
♥ Buffy vs. Edward (Twilight Remix) : About this video: In this remixed narrative, Edward Cullen from the Twilight Series meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer at Sunnydale High. It’s an example of transformative storytelling serving as a visual critique of Edward’s character and generally creepy behavior. Seen through Buffy’s eyes some of the more patriarchal gender roles and sexist Hollywood tropes embedded in the Twilight saga are exposed in hilarious ways.
While I had already thought Edward’s behavior towards Bella was creepy, controlling, and often stalkerish, this video puts it in to new perspective. He’s so much more so now! I wish more young women had Buffy to look up to as a role model, as opposed to Bella.
♥ The Vendor Client Relationship: This will especially appeal to those who have worked in any kind of service industry, whether retail, culinary, or as independent business owners. It never ceases to amaze me, in real life, what people will try to negotiate for….
♥ Re-watching The Gilmore Girls; delish & cheap Turkish food lunch dates; planning my Eastern Block tour (Amsterdam, Berlin, Budapest, Bucharest, and Prague) with the faux beau; the word Boulevard–it brings to mind such lovely conjurations; planning successful events for work–for staff & for donors!
