Things I Love Thursday: A Very Merry New Year Edition

A very merry and happy New Year to you all! I hope your evenings were filled with happiness and love–whether surrounded by strangers or friends or at home in front of Sex and the City (*cough*).

In addition to some January goals, I thought it would be most excellent to start off the New Year celebrating a heft list on Things I Love Thursday– including a great love of mine, New Year’s Resolutions!

Morning Of Energy Does anyone else feel it? On New Year’s Day, in the morning, there is this sudden urge of energy that I can feel. I slept horribly, my body is in pain, and my head is congested, but I feel this positive energy all around me. It’s as though for one day, people believe in the change of a new year, and their energy is electric all around us.

How I Met Your Mother I think this is, by far, one of the best comedies on television right now. I love the wit, the outrageous characters, and how I can still relate to the characters and what they are going through.

Late Night Text Messaging I’ve been sick this past week with an uncomfortable head cold, and the Faux Beau has been up at his families. So it made for a bit of a lonely New Year’s Eve. All throughout the night though, he sent sweet texts about how he’d try to have fun (afterall, I wasn’t there) and cheering “Happy New Beer!” at 12:30.

My Twitter Lovers Have I mentioned enough how much I love Twitter? I love that it’s help me build great relationships with amazing bloggers, artists, designers, and more. Interacting with these dears makes my days brighter & more lively!

Smart Shopping Especially when it comes to fashionable shopping, I’m trying to reduce how much I buy even more, but to spend more money on greater pieces. During Thanksgiving I splurged on this Hayden Harnett colorblock tote (after receiving MUCH reassurance for my besties). At $250, it wasn’t a cheap splurge for me. But I know this bag will grow with me as my style changes, that I will use it a lot, and it is worth the expense. The same goes as I save up for Fluevog’s Inge boots, and other beautiful items I want in my wardrobe.

Crafting time with Friends This past couple of weeks, I was fortunate enough to get to spend good time with lovely friends (who I don’t see often enough!), including the lovely Libby Bulloff! It was wonderful to be around people, have projects in hand, drink delicious homemade hot cocoa, and snark a bit, too ;)

Being surrounded by wonderful people during the Holidays.

Honorable Mentions: The Watchmen and a new 2009 Moleskine en route; silly cat antics; the generosity of friends, family, and strangers during the holidays; my mailman teasing me about the amount of packages I receive; my new girl crush, artist, designer, and uber fashionista Amelia Arsenic at Destroy X; the Obama Riding a Unicorn t-shirt; the “How to be a YP Rockstar” series (that begins today!) at Girl Meets Business.

♥ New Year’s Resolutions! ♥

I’ve always been prone to follow ideas for the new year, mottos, rather than specific task oriented goals. So in short, they would be:
Think Positively
Healthy Hit Points : to move my mind and body towards a healthy ideal, one that slipped poorly out of control during grad school.
Living the Fairytale (Love Gala for that one!)
Mischief Maker/Mischief Managed: to bring much more magic & mischief in to my life and the lives of others.
Reclamation Proclamation : to reclaim the passions, visions, loves of my past, to reunite my mind, spirit, body, with my interests and needs.
Live Consciously: to shop smart, to live smart, to reduce my consumption, and live a life that is fulfilling to me. To hell with naysayers.

I’m sure there is so much, much more that I can and should resolve to do in the upcoming new year, but I think this is an admirable start. There’s always the monthly goals to add new challenges and ideas ;)

I need to make time for some crafting myself, I haven’t done any for a very long time. Happy New Year – the resolutions look like great goals to work to!

Thanks so much for the link *blushes*. You are too kind!

I like your resolutions, they are great! I have to do mine today too. I like reclamation proclamation and live consciously. I might add them to mine too.

I love this resolution. Life can be so hectic that we lose track of what actually makes us tick.

HIMYM – I am a huge fan.
Twitter slowly taking over my life… hahaa!

I am glad that I stumbled across your blog.lovely!

@Amelia Arsenic@alixrose – Though it makes me a bit sad, it makes me glad to know that I’m not the only one who has often neglected the things that I love most!

@Tara – Hope you had a wonderful new year too, and that your resolutions come true as well!
