Indie Designers: Highway to the Danger Zone

Little known story: when I was in high school, after I’d submitted my check to my undergrad alma mater, I watched Top Gun (for the first time in years). And in the weeks that followed watching it, I wondered if I was making the right choice going to college, when I could join the navy and fly planes.

It’s not unusual for me to have these fits of insanity after watching films– Jurassic Park made me want to be a paleontologist, Silence of the Lambs & the X-Files are why I originally went to school to study criminal justice, and the Mickey Mouse Club made my wee 3 year old heart want to be a performer.   While my love of flight hasn’t changed, I don’t regret not taking the military life…

When I first saw these necklaces by Swank featured on Miss Malaprop, it was love at first sight.  I felt the same when I saw The Clothes Horse’s planes ring.  While I can’t land an F1-15 plane, I can certainly have packages delivered to my doorstep.

Now that it’s almost Thanksgiving, I feel confident and comfortable saying these will be on my “Dear Santa” wishlist.

OMG– those fighter plane rings are amazing! Tough and luxe at the same time.

Normally I’m a little put off by violent things turned kitsch in fashion (like the ubiquitous guns) cuz I’m a square like that, but I have to admit that little bomb charm is cute.

Those are gorgeous. I’ve seen so many awesome rings today, these tie first with the vampire teeth rings I saw somewhere earlier. ^_^

Oh my goodness, those rings are amazing!! I love when they make little nerdy jewellery like that. I was *this* close to buying a little trinket phone box at the end of the last season of Doctor Who :) Hi by the way! Loving the blog so far, looking forward to reading more:)

I’m totally the same way…when I was little and saw The Wizard of Oz for the first time i was convinced that I was going to be a Good Witch when I grew up, and then I saw Star Wars and decided that becoming a Jedi totally topped witchdom…even in my 20′s I continue to have equally unrealistic professional asspirations. Just saw the new Star Trek and believe me, I will become an Alien linguist :)
the jewelry looks stellar. And thanks so much for stopping by the blog!!
