After I lamented the lack of plus sized clothing lines, I decided to turn the one place where I can find almost anything I’m looking for: Etsy.
While Etsy didn’t have exactly what I was looking for, I did find some great options for sellers who make custom-sized, eco-friendly clothing (that isn’t creepy, matronly hippie wear!).
First up, is the glorious Sandmaiden, who I’ve shared before. While Sandmaiden focuses on beautiful lounge/sleepwear, I think there are some great pieces that can be utilized in your regular wardrobe… Pieces like this flutter sleeve wrap top are both stylish, comfortable, and ready-to-wear anywhere.
Another great seller is Bobelly, who specializes in those great basics: leggings, panties, with scatterings of dresses, skirts, and more. She’s willing to make up to 52″ (in hip or bust), and has an amazing selection of colors. Where American Apparel fails me, I’m happy to know where I can get colored leggings (especially great during cold, Midwestern winters!) in my size.
Bobelly Olive Soy & Organic Cotton Leggings
Ella Phante Creations has, in addition to her normal line, a line of custom creations in organic fabrics. Each item uses a wide range of measurements, to ensure a perfect fit to your fabulous body. Her designs are vibrant and cute, each reminisce of the pieces you’d find that adorable boutique downtown, but aren’t designed to fit ANYONE… This Hello Sailor dress is just adorable, and sure to win many hearts on shore leave!
As independent design continues to grow, and the desire for fashionable organic clothing grows with it, there are sure to be countless more designers opening up to serve this market. I personally can’t wait to see what else pops up!
