As you may know, I have a side gig writing for the Heels.com shoe blog, High Heels. While it’s only a couple of times per month, it gives me the chance to share my favorites in the world of shoes each month.
Heels.com has recently undergone a huge overhaul & transformation, their most significant change being the addition to videos for every shoe on the site.

To be quite honest, I kind of love this feature.
When ordering shoes online, there were always dilemmas: how does the arch of the shoe look on them–and how will it fit on my foot? Is that heel REALLY 4″? It looks so stiff–could I walk in it? How high up my heel is the back of that? Where on my foot would those straps cut across or how big IS that “peep” toe? Or how often do you order a shoe, only to find out that the color is not at all like the images depicted? (John Fluevog, Corso Como, I’m looking at YOU.)
Having a video of a live person walking & modeling the shoes eliminates at least some of those problems and, I think, provides a more realistic depiction of the product.
For online shopping, it’s the equivalent of watching another woman try on another pair of shoes.
It would be really groundbreaking if more and more companies would start using short videos to depict their clothes, how they move, and how they fit.
A girl could dream, couldn’t she?

Wowza I’m checking this out immediately! How useful and awesome!!! I know, sometimes you want to see it in action, not in the carefully posed generic shots on most websites. Fabulous post!!!
What a fantastic idea! I could have avoided a few online ordering mishaps if this feature had been around…
