Lady Gaga: From Smart & Bold to Michael Jackson?

There’s no question that I love Lady Gaga.

I love her something fierce. She shows a great aptitude for music and style, all while sounding very sure of her own mission and vision. In a young 20-something, that’s quite something to be proud of.

Her early interviews showed a great sense of work ethic, drive, and responsibility that was envious. She was bold and powerful when she spoke, so very animated, and it really just made her a bit more approachable… (and how fun is she showing them how to do her dance?!)

Lately, though, when I see her, I can’t help but wonder what’s with the whispy voice and “um….*pause*” when she speaks. It’s like she’s taken on this parody of Michael Jackson. While I love 80s MJ, I don’t know if 2009 MJ is how I’d want to present myself….

Anyone else noticing this change? The Faux Beau speculates she’s high, but I’m not so sure…

I don’t think it’s very far-fetched to assume she might be high.

That second interview you posted was the first interview I’d ever seen with her – and it kind of turned me off to Lady Gaga just because of her demeanor in it. Sadface. :(

Wow, I love your blog! And I also love Lady Gaga, but I really can’t say anything about this particular subject, because I’ve never really watched an interview with her – I only listen to her music. I’ve got to say that she has changed A LOT since the time when she first started out in the music biz; I wonder if it was her, or the recordlabel’s idea for her to change into this hipster-girl…

ughh, that second interview was terrible. I like her way better in the first one, she seems more real and less drugged out. Maybe she was sick in the second one, and couldn’t speak loudly. Who knows.

@Ine – I hope it’s not something the label is pushing on her– from her earlier interviews, it doesn’t seem that she would be the type of lady to do that, but who knows..

You know what’s sad ladies? The second interview isn’t the only one where she sounds like this! I had found another (but lost the link) and she’s doing the same damned thing! The more I think about, the more likely it seems that she’s just high in her recent interviews…

Hmmm, it sounds like she’s started to believe her own hype a bit. She was much more appealing when she was being silly and down to earth x

Lol! That stylespy interview was shot the same am (and same location as one on my morning show in Vancouver Canada. I think she is cultivating her image, distancing herself from the public to reach a Popstar untouchable height.

She seems more real in the first intereview more human. I don’t think she is trying to repersent herself like MJ in the second interview. I think she is trying to be more mature and more proper or maybe more classy and it just sound really fake. I love her music no doubt but I think that she is an awesome artist but I think the Gaga persona is really gettting to her.

Well..she is, in #1, very hyped and on TV, #2, she is laid-back, in a private interview.

and wtf..in comparing her to Michael Jackson? o.O. Michael was the same person the media made him look like something different.

Yeah, I sense a change but honestly she sounds like she’s on pot. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. A friend of mine sounds like that when he’s high on weed. I can barely understand him. He usually speaks low and the weed only makes it worse.

I still like her. I think she’s just high lol. Or laid back and spacey. She was kinda like that on Jonathon Ross. But really shy at the same time. I dunno. She’s still cool.
