Beach Blanket Bingo! Kiss & Dashing Diva Beauty Giveaway

by Ashe Mischief on April 14, 2009

Confession: I’m really horrible about pampering myself and treating myself (and my body!) the way it deserves to be treated.

I could count the number of manicures & massages I’ve gotten on one hand and pedicure is not a word in my vocabulary.  Since moving to Indiana, it’s only gotten worse, and I’ve kind of let myself go (based on my old standards).

Because of this, I kind of jumped at the opportunity to do a beauty giveaway on Dramatis Personae.  I advocate practicing what I preach, so to lecture on & on about beauty when it’s not my top priority makes for a bit of a bad Ashe.

This weekend I made it a priority.

kissnailproducts

I received an intense package filled with Kiss manicure & pedicure products, along with four Dashing Diva nail polishes.  Originally I kind of expected samples of frou frou girly mani & pedi sets, designed for girl’s night in.  So imagine my surprise when I received great kits of professional quality mani & pedicure tools.  I spent Saturday night lounging in the tub while I scrubbed, clipped, and primped my fingers and toes in to top condition (or the top that I could do).  Sunday morning I spent painting those same fingers and toes with Dashing Diva’s “Well Connected” (the palest pink) and “I’ll Pink to That!” (the bright pink).

While I love brightly colored toe nails, I tend not to wear nail polish as much.  Mostly because I use my hands a lot and within days it is chipped and I’m peeling away at the rest of it.  I layered “Well Connected” on my fingers, thinking if the polish chips easily, then no one will notice.   Imagine my surprise that: it goes on so smooth and evenly, and it dries really, really quickly.  I’m further surprised later that afternoon: while I’m using wire cutters, hot glue, and tweezers, my skin comes off (with the hot glue), but my nail polish doesn’t.  Nor does it even scratch with the menagerie of wires I’m struggling to cut through.

I’m seriously impressed. (And seriously jonesing for the Box Seats, Mulberry Drive,  & NYPD Blue polishes.)

I passed along the French Tip kit to my girl friend, Jenny, who is much more inclined to wear French Tip styled nails than I am (we both agreed it would be strange to see me in them, as it would be strange to see her in blue polish).  She put them on Sunday, and they look so lovely!  She said it was relatively easy, and with the exception of being a bit messy with the glue, she’s quite happy with how they came out.

Time for a Giveaway!

The lovely ladies who sent me these great goodies want to send the same products to five of you.

All you have to do is leave me a comment with the following:
What is your favorite way to pamper yourself, and treat your body good, after a long, cold winter?

The 5 winners will be chose at random on April 19th.  Unfortunately, it is only open to residents of the U.S. Please make sure to leave me a valid email address to reach you, as well!

Consider it the new and improved Mischievous way– let’s sweep out sad winter fingers & toes and make them ready for sun & surf!

It’s not exactly pampering, but I treat myself to naps outside in the sun. I love to take the afternoon to relax and just bask in the heat, and it makes me feel so good to get a little more rest in the day. :)

A good salt scrub in the shower does wonders for me when I’m feeling gross and wintery. I usually get a pedicure too toward the start of spring.

Oohh, I’ll definitely be taking a look at this brand! I love nail polish and how it looks on, but like you, I find it’s not usually worth the effort since it seems to start coming off within 48 hours.

My favorite way to pamper myself – a long hot shower with lots of exfoliating and scented bath wash. Not fancy, but oh so nice.

It’s weird someone else said it, but I also like taking naps out in the sun. I’m about to do it right now.

I’m the same as you for pampering–I’ve actually never had a manicure or pedicure…
I like to pamper myself after a long winter (and during a long winter!) with really long baths with bath oil beads and a good novel. Chocolate is also usually involved…

My favorite way to pamper myself is to go for a nice, long walk in the fresh spring air! It’s not a traditional pampering like a pedicure or massage, but I find it invigorating and refreshing for both the body and soul! A little bit of exercise is usually just what I need to get started on my springtime routines and shed that heavy, winter feeling. :)

I’d love to enjoy some self indulgence for my hands and nails
I tried once the kiss completely white for french manicure and I will be very happy to enjoy them again

this is awesome! I usually like to really prepare my skin for summer by doing a really good exfoliation everywhere, then soaking in bath oils to get that moisture back.

I love to surround myself with a citrus scent to get ready for Spring. I will take a bubble bath using a citrus scented soap and then use the matching lotion and body spray. It’s very uplifting and gets me ready for warm weather! :)

Pamper? What is this thing you speak of? After winter I do start doing all my nails more. I do also take better care of my feet, exfoliating & moisturizing and whatnot…but I’ve never had a pedicure either.

I love getting a mani/pedi but don’t get them nearly as enough as I should! But spring is here and summer is approaching and I’m going to have to get my toes looking like candy (as one man told me once at a bar – aiiiiii!)

I love taking hot baths and soaking for awhile. I read magazines or turn out the lights and just relax. It feels great.

It sounds weird, but going for a late afternoon jog. One can always go get a massage any season, but it’s harder to get yourself out there when your nose feels like it’s no longer a part of you.
