Happy New Year’s to all of my lovely friends! I hope you’re all off to a safe, festive, and fun start to 2009!
In the past, I used to set regular monthly goals for myself. Though often unsuccessful about completing them all each month, I did find that having goals challenged me to use my free time wisely. So each month I will be posting my monthly goals, along with the new MONTHLY CHALLENGE!!!
January Goals:
♥ by mid-month, have my special guest writing projects wrapped up.
♥ spend more time with alternative creative endeavors: making hair pieces, sewing new clothes, etc.
♥ stock my Etsy Shop with merchandise.
♥ revamp key areas of dramatis personae
January Challenge!!!
The January Challenge will to be to go the entire month of January without eating out. AT.ALL. The Faux Beau and I have a habit of eating out far too often; this habit of ours is very expensive and unhealthy. With this goal, I hope that we will break ourselves of eating out, encourage ourselves to cook creatively more often, and to save money.
Since it’s the first of the year, I thought I’d address a topic that’s been heavily floating around the internet–Fashion Resolutions:
It’s my belief that by tightening our purse strings too much, that we don’t help the economy any. It’s my goal to continue to keep my shopping habits as is– to buy only those things I love, to buy what I can afford when I can afford it, and to buy quality over quantity.
Is anyone else participating in this alternative to new year’s resolutions? What are some of your goals for the month, season, or upcoming year?

Those are some fabulous goals! I think mine are to:
* Get on with some work
* Get the new Sparkle and Glitter regular features going
* Make some jewellery, get back into practice again!
ooh eating out… i haven’t done that in a looong time… oh yeah, last month.
it’s a tough one! happy new year love!!!!!
@Vixel – I’m looking forward to seeing the new Sparkle & Glitter features going again, and any jewelry you make! I do hope you post images!
@jennine – It’s going to be SO hard! Probably because a lot of my socializing circles around going out for lunch or drinks, getting dinner with the Beau. It’s definitely going to be tough, but I hope worth it!
Totally with you re: the recession. I’m not participating :D
@Gala – I feel guilty enough cutting back on my dining out this month! Who is going to fill in the void I will leave when I don’t eat out a month? Who will tip their servers well? Hopefully there will be money saved I can shovel in to other areas of the economy ;)
I totally agree… I mean if you look at history, when people tighten their belts too much in a recession, it just means trouble.
I like your monthly goals… I think I will give myself similar goals like that! It’s a good idea for short term plans.
@Amelia Arsenic – Short term plans are fantastic–they feel like less pressure than too many long-term plans!
We can’t get caught up in recession mania, either! It’ll be good to teach people better habits, but we have to keep on living, too.
Eating out is my vice. I don’t cook and the love interest does, but we never have food, so we eat out and boy is it tough on the purse strings, not to mention my waist line. I’m with you there. Also my style resolution is similar, to keep shopping responsibly.
Love the blog, sending you some link love, do the same, if you feel so inclined!
