Etsy/Indie Designers: Bubbles & Frown

by Ashe Mischief on March 23, 2009

The week of Etsy/Indie Designers is over, but when I discovered this shop, I HAD to share today!

I was trolling Etsy in search of tiny top hats, during a break from  making my own top hats.  It’s wonderful inspiration to see what others are making, and how my own pieces may fill in a gap in the market.

That’s when I came across Bubbles & Frown, a most exquisite tiny top hat & fascinator creator.  I found myself literally gasping over and over as I peeked through her shop, hungrily imagining all the pretty pieces on my head.

Each piece is a combination of circus chic, Tim Burton fantasy worlds, and showgirl sensation.  With feathers, rhinestones, cascading ribbons, assymmetrical shapes, and more, is it any surprise that I’ve probably got half of her shop on my favorite’s list?

Most of all, I love how inspiring her shop is. Not only is it an amazing wealth of ideas, but it inspires me to really create a line of hair pieces that each have that Ashe Mischief style, that are my own signature pieces, to see each finished one and say “but I have to keep it because I love it!”

Absolutely fantastical! I love the second top hat, I can sooo see it in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland.

Oh wow these are sooo beautiful!! In fact I may actually buy something similar just for display purposes (unless of course the idea of cross dressing suddenly becomes appealing in a moment of insanity…in which case I will at least be well accessorised).

@Film Upstart – That’s the wonderful thing about tiny top hats– head size doesn’t matter so much, since they sit cocked just right on top of the head!

@dapper kid – I LOVE the idea of one being on display in a man’s house. I keep my wigs out on display, and if I had more headforms, the tiny top hats would probably be out, too…

Ahhh! The fascinator! Why is this so awesome? And why aren´t more American ladies into them? Let´s start a revolution, Ashe!
