Oh My God Shoes: Dr. Martens Darcie

I turned 13 in 1996, so most of my teen years were spent in the later half of the 90s. Despite that, I still feel that my teen years kind of trailed on the grunge look (and later the skater girl persona). As such, Dr. Marten played a pivotal role during my high school years; I remember putting a pair of black 20 eye docs on layaway; they cost me $120 and that seemed like such an unfathomable amount for a pair of shoes then (what little did I know!).

My Gripfast and Docs still sit in my closet (though I’ve sold 2 pairs in the past few years); my hot pink steel toed boots and my Union Jack boots. There’s a sort of nostalgia behind them that I just can’t get rid of.

So imagine my surprise when my heart was stolen by Dr. Martens again…

I love how much more fitted the silhouette of the boot is compared to traditional docs. It seems more shapely, more curvy, and more feminine, while still having that combat boot ruggedness. The heel contrasts the style and vision of the boot, with its thick rubber platform and wooden heel, but the light wood and dark cherry color are so beautiful together.

Sadly, this boot isn’t available in the U.S., though apparently there have been many requests for it! I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I can find my size online (and a U.K. retailer will ship to me) or that eBay proves fruitful…

I have fallen for Doc Marten all over again and he has been my main squeeze since I was 15!

Those boots are GREAT! Good luck finding them on eBay…you might have to look for a while, but I bet you will eventually.

I JUST bought a new pair of Docs for hiking, but have been wearing them all over (my boyfriend thinks I’m just “breaking them in”).

Ahh oh my gosh look at the heel! Now that is something I never thought I would see on a Dr. Martin.

Doc Martens new designs have been making me gasp, they are SO fantastic! I’m kinda wishing some of the patterned DMs were available in mens sizing, but I do love my plain blacks.
