Costumes of Holidays Past….

by Ashe on October 15, 2009

As I post this, I’m up in the air & on my way to Denver! Tre magnifique!

Since I’m travelling, I thought it’d be a great time to share more costume ideas–from my own past.  It’s hardly fair for me to share great costume ideas without sharing the costumes I’ve actually worn in the past now, is it?

Halloween 2004 with Colette of Destructoid & Tomopop.  She was a cute little can-can girl, and I was a lady bug. You can’t see the bottom half, but I recall having striped tights & fishnets on, and several layers of pink & black panties. It was a kid’s costume I’d found at the thrift store, and amazingly, it fit over my boobs (and stopped right below them (better shot).

Halloween 2004 (part 2). Group Jem & the Holograms action! I’m Kimber, in the center, all neon pink & lamé blue.  I was so proud this Halloween…I was out until about 3 a.m., registered for classes at 7 a.m., and couldn’t get the Ben Nye off my face for about 4 days.

Mardi Gras 2006. This is at home, but I wore the outfit the night of the Muses parade (as it celebrates super girliness).  Dress made by me, out of $1.99 tapestries from Urban Outfitters! (Damn my arms were skinny!)

Also Mardi Gras 2006, the great Adventures on Nola! Alice in Wonderland costume, with a great cast of Characters.  This was one of my favorite and most memorable costumed experiences…. it was amazing to have all of my favorite people dressed up & spending the day with them…

Halloween 2006. This was my first Halloween that I did something in Bloomington, and I went with friends to the Rocky Horror Picture Show.  I love seeing how costume pieces can mix and bounce from one idea to another…

I love those costumes, fab! Those spats and the pink wig are amazing.

I think I’ve only got pictures of my costumes from 2 years, 2003 and 2007. Oh and one from 1998!

I was a Witch in 2 of them though. Yawn! I always forget to get shots of the good ones.

I detect a theme of bright pink! I love how you’ve clearly put effort and thought into each of them. For me, it’s usually a last minute scramble for ideas!
