The Fabulous Festival [August 2008]

by Ashe Mischief on August 4, 2008

It’s wonderful to have the opportunity to host the Fabulous Festival! here at dramatis personae once again, especially after so many months off!

First up, I’d like to convey an exciting announcement for Fabulous Festival gal, Meg: her newest project, The Wardrobe Channel has been launched! Check it out for great videos on fashion, a Fashion Wikipedia that you can contribute to, and much more. I’m excited to see how the Wardrobe Channel will grow and what a great resource it will become.

From The Wardrobe Miser we have 5 Hallmarks of Your Personal Style. How about you, loves, do you have 5 Hallmarks for your own personal style?

At the Peculiar Beauty Blog, Bonnies shares 10 Tips from 100 Years Ago. This post is delightful & charming, with tips like 2. A French woman wears a fifty dollar dress and a fifteen dollar corset, An American woman wears a two hundred dollar dress and a two dollar and a-half corset.

The ever delightful Queen Gilda has shared an inspiring story and her amazing attitude with Coming Out of the Closet. I was so touched reading this story, and Gilda’s big heart really stands out. It’s one of my favorite posts from the past few weeks.

The Eternal Voyageur shares tips on silicon products for your hair, explaining what they are, how they work, and what’s the best and worst to use.

Simple Pretty Little Things teaches us how to hack Gucci (for a fraction of the cost!). I love the hoop earrings, and it inspires me to pull out my own similar pair…

I Love Anunschka shows off a gorgeous leather bag that she defines as the perfect bag for all seasons.

Tali at the Pin-Up Blog focuses on the great debate between male pin-up artists versus female pin-up artists. She does a delightful job comparing the genders based on the era of design, style, and more. Warning though, so images may not be safe for work!

Also from Tali is a great piece on Pin-up Pop Art! I love Roy Lichtenstein, so it’s a joy to see his work included on this list…

From our male audience, the Fashionable Mathematician shows us how guys can get the most value out of tee-shirts. A beloved item, so good advice is in store!

FitnChic does a great job to remind us that Size Is Just A Number. (Boy, do I wish women’s clothes were just sized by measurements!)

Victoria Everman shares a sustainable fashion tip with An Unspoken Global Warming Resolution: Short Hair. She makes some really wonderful points in favor of short hair– what say you? If you could cut your hair & know it’d stop global warming, would you?

And here at the dramatis personae, we talk about Trashy Etiquette or what happens when one small company starts producing counterfeits of one small designer’s most popular dress. Selling them side by side? Shameful!

Thank you everyone who contributed to the August Fabulous Festival!
We are now accepting submissions for the September Festival, which will be posted on September 1st. The deadline for submissions will be August 29th, and you can submit your entries here.

I can’t wait to see you there!
