Fashion Complaints

Why is it that women's clothing companies have such a hard time efficiently making button-up shirts? I shouldn't have to use a safety pin to ensure that the buttons won't pop around my breasts. It's not that I'm particularly busty, or that my proportions are particularly odd-- no matter how well the shirt fits, it just seems that companies don't get where the buttons ought to be placed.

And Libertine for Target, I'm disappointed in you. Finding out that my striped tie-neck blouse has bled pink (under the arms no less!) because a girl glows a bit is not attractive. I expected a bit higher quality out of you. (Note to Self: Only wear this shirt in cool weather from now on!)

I'm sorry about your Target experience but I still have to LOL! I'm a heavy, er, "glower" myself!

Even post reduction, I have problems with button-up shirts. I've come to realize that it's the shirts and not me. The problem is that most button-up shirts have the buttons spaced too far apart, especially in the bust area. I've found a couple shirts that have extra buttons and they work fine. No gaps!!! Maybe some day the clothing companies will realize that they should spend an extra 5 cents on buttons because they'll sell a heck of a lot more shirts.

That target shirt situation is tragic! I can really relate to the button up shirt troubles. I almost always end up wearing a sweater or jumper over my button ups. I've recently wondered if toupe tape placed strategically between buttons would fix the problem. I use it all the time to avoid flashing fellow bar goers when wearing something low cut.

Shirts can be a real problem, I usually spend ages trying to find a shirt that has the right fit and that wont shrink once its been washed.

Thanks, ladies! It's good to know that I'm not alone in this problem, and that others can empathize. Meg, I think you're totally right-- overall, I imagine companies would easily earn their money back if they put in a few more buttons. Heck, Talbots even puts "Modest Panels" on their shirts, a little flap of fabric going behind the buttons to avoid this problem.

Such simple solutions! And yet no one does it...
